This tastes like a chocolate malt shake, a delicious and nutritious shake, perfect for dessert or breakfast! In contrast to malt shakes, it is of course gluten-free and also vegan!
If you've never had a malt shake, they're rich, creamy, and tasty!
They typically contain malt milk, which gives it its earthy, malty taste. Malt milk powder is an evaporated powder made from barley malt, wheat and milk. In addition, like most milkshakes, malt shakes contain ice cream, milk and cocoa powder.
However, this chocolate malt shake doesn't contain malt milk powder and instead uses cocoa powder and maca powder. That makes it friendly for anyone who doesn't eat dairy or gluten, and on top of that, add an extra dose of nutrients to fire up your day!
Not malt, maca
Maca is a type of crucifer (in the family with kale, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage) that originated in Peru.
The maca root is the part of the plant that is usually dried and ground to create a powder that is more common in other forms such as pills or tinctures.
Maca was used to treat hormonal balance, the aphrodisiac, to increase stamina, to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, to increase physical strength and endurance, and to improve mental focus / clarity. While the scientific evidence to back up Maca's claims is not yet significant, its mineral and vitamin rich content justifies this root as a great root powder to add to your diet for its taste and minerals alone!
Maca is nutritious and has a malty, nutty, and rich taste. It contains vitamin C, copper, potassium, manganese, iron, vitamin B6 and polyphenols.
